ON THE DAY

PARKING:

There is one designated area for parking which is within Fen Drayton Lakes. This will be clearly signed once you reach the village so please keep an eye out for the signs. We ask that you do not park ‘within’ the village and be mindful of residents driveways and do not block their access. Parking is limited so if you are able to car share please do.

HOW TO GET HERE:

By bus

The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway runs between Huntingdon and Cambridge has a request stop at Fen Drayton Lakes. Please note that the driver will need to be made aware that you wish to alight. Buses run every 10 minutes. Once off the bus head south towards Fen Drayton Village Hall and school. Please note that it is around 1.5miles from the guided bus stop to the registration at the village hall, so please make sure you add on this extra time for arrival.

By road

Leave A14 at Junction 28 Cambridge Services; follow brown tourist signs for RSPB Nature Reserve to the site entrance (off the minor road between Fen Drayton and Swavesey). Once on the reserve, follow signs to the car parking area. From other directions follow brown tourist signs from Swavesey High Street or once in Fen Drayton follow the signs or marshal directions.

REGISTRATION:

Your race numbers and chips can be collected from the registration desks in the Village Hall from 08:30am on race day. Printed lists of your name and bib number will be displayed outside the Village Hall. On arrival, please check your number and look for the corresponding registration desk to collect your chip and bib. (Please note this is NOT the number that appears on the Fabian start list so you will need to check the lists that are at the Village Hall on race day).

Please write any medical conditions and emergency contact details on the reverse of numbers and attach number to your vest/t-shirt.

BAG DROP:

There will be a bag drop zone in the Village Hall. It will be manned but you do leave all belongings at your own risk. Please label bags clearly with your race number and your name. We will check the label number with your running number when collecting.

TOILETS:

These are located in the Village Hall and the school.

HEADPHONES:

Parts of the route are along private roads where cars will still have access and along the Guided Busway service road. We therefore advise you that headphones are worn entirely at your own risk and it remains your responsibility to ensure that you can hear marshal instructions, you remain aware of other runners and you make way for emergency vehicles if necessary .

WARM UP:

There will be a 10 minute warm-up at the school at 9:45am - kindly done by Nikki who runs classes locally.

START:

The race will start on Cootes Lane near the Village Hall 10am.

COURSE:

The route for the course takes you through the beautiful RSPB Fen Drayton Lakes. A lot of the course is off road so please be aware of uneven ground. You will also run alongside the Guided Busway on the service road.  Please be extra vigilant along this stretch of the course and take heed of the signs and marshals. The lakes will still be open to the public so please be aware that there may be cyclists, dogs & walkers.

MARSHALS:

There will be marshals placed around the course. They are there for your safety and to ensure the run is a success. Please listen to any instructions they may give.

WATER STATION:

A water station is provided just after the 5km mark.

HEARST SERVICES MEDICAL:

Will be providing First Aid cover for the duration of the race.

FINISH:

The race finish is at the playing field between the school and the Village Hall. This is also where the prizes and medals will be presented. Once you have crossed the finish line please keep moving through the area to avoid congestion.

SAFETY:

Whilst all sensible precautions have been made by the race organisers including full risk assessments, it is the responsibility of all runners to ensure their safety on the course.

SPORTS MASSAGE:

We are hoping to be able to offer sports massages. Treat yourself to a sports massage before or after the race.

Please remember that the Fen Drayton 10K uses shared paths. For the continued success of the event, please be mindful and respectful to other reserve users.
